The Surrealism and Sacred eroticism in the artworks of Oleksandr Serdiuk

 

In the Ukrainian fine art, Oleksandr Serdiuk is positioned as surrealist, conceptualist and also representative in Late Contemporary Art. His creative pursuits are so diverse, and the field for experimentation so wide that is fit the work of the painter in the framework of the conventional art critics one particular course doesn`t possible. The artworks of Serdiuk are inherent elements of symbolism, surrealism, magic realism, postmodernism, neo- avant-garde, etc.

 

The Surrealistic scenes of Serdiuk are formed by the withdrawal from the classical traditional salon painting into the image of the subconscious. The selected author of a creative method – not accidental. It shows the elevation of the spirit over matter, of the universe and the human relationship, analyze dreams, meditative states, the search for the divine Absolute, suggests a dialogue with the classics and the surrealists. Mostly, the artist works in the genres of Nu symbolic and surreal landscape but does not exclude the experiments with volume, creating installations and art objects.

 

The Surreal landscape of Oleksandr doesn’t inherent aggression, they do not show the differ riot of colors, as a consequence, do not press on the viewer. Scenic artist loops are designed in a calm, mostly blue-gray color scheme. The emotion, the original cause of a creative plan of Serdiuk, are hidden behind the symbols, the monumental grandeur of nature and the human conscious tranquility. That`s stems from a focus on the inner world. The Landscapes of Serdiuk returning us in the viewer to the magic of the four elements: a fire, a water, an earth and the air. The artist`s emphasis does not in color and in contrast. He does the emphasis in a texture, a composition. That is why his painting is perceived reflex.

 

The Mythology in the works of Oleksandr Serdiuk appeals to the unconscious, which is encoded in the general system of the artist generalizations. The earliest images of the collective experience, called archetypes, take in the works of the painter, not the last place. In broad philosophical context, Oleksandr Serdiuk displays metaphors inherent in classical symbolism. He works with allegories, allusions, emotions which are frozen in time.

 

Each canvas is freedom from narrow-mindedness, trying to follow the subtlest sensations, which are more characteristic of the representatives of ancient civilizations, rather than modern humans. In his paintings, Serdiuk input not typical paint materials: fabric, wood, cardboard, in order to triple the amount invested meanings. The paintings are filled with many details, often have a fantastic story, while keeping a realistic painting technique.

 

The artworks of Serdiuk are created in Contemporary Art plane. They reflect the feelings of human living in the modern world and its current understanding of morality. The creativity of the artist is contemplative, it offers no radical solutions, is not existential, not a call to the destruction or self-flagellation. Moreover, it offers a plunge into the depths of the study of the human soul. It should be noted that the “credo” of Serdiuk – The Awareness. The artist admits that he is able to explain the nature of each image, each color, and strokes, as, despite working with the irrational, “rationality” of the artist is always “link on” and is responsible for finding capacious artistic expression.

 

The Nu (Nude) of Oleksandr Serdiuk is screw out of detail, so also it is the symbol. This artistic technique, i.e., the deficiency of a selfhood excludes outrageous, vulgar, pornographic, immoral, which likes to use a lot of contemporary artists. His experiment is on the verge of a revelation of Schiele and neo-tantric ( “Tantra”) connection of male and female. The plasticity of nudity, doesn`t always embodied in the natural, but in elegant poses, evokes memories of the ancient statues of antiquity, as the figures in the paintings can be divided into individual components without difficulty. The author makes a point of not only to the beauty of the female body as its excellence in principle, but physical attractiveness (as an integral part of it). In contempt of eroticism in Serdiuk`s artworks still has exclusively sacred character, treating the woman as the object of knowledge and admiration.
